AEP 102 - Telemental Health for Special Populations
Description
This 6-hour course emphasizes the unique challenges and techniques involved in providing telehealth services to special populations, such as children and adolescents, rural communities, and discusses telemental health counseling interventions. It also focuses on school-based telehealth counseling services and working with underserved populations who may face barriers to in-person care.

This is an online self-paced course that consists of:
- Video Lectures: Each course module includes video content covering legal standards, therapeutic techniques, and population-specific approaches.
- Case Studies: Real-life scenarios help participants apply learned concepts to ethically navigate telehealth challenges.
- Interactive Simulations: Simulated telehealth sessions allow students to practice counseling skills, focusing on rapport, crisis management, and adapting techniques for remote delivery.
- Quizzes and Knowledge Checks: Periodic quizzes assess understanding of course materials, ensuring mastery of core competencies.

Program Objectives
Through this program, learners will be able to
- Understand and apply theoretical foundations of Play Therapy.
- Identify Interventions and Therapies for providing Telemental Health Counseling to Children and Adolescents.
- Demonstrate capacity to critically explore telemental with special populations (children, adolescents, neurodiverse individuals, and application of telemental health in schools and rural areas).
- Conceptualize creative virtual strategies for working in the telemental health counseling domain.
